Congratulations Luke Austin

The testing begins with the conditioning we do t start every class with pushups, crunches, and stretches.

Then we begin the Black Belt testing with all the techniques shown on the equipment. Focus mitts for hand techniques, air shields for kicking techniques, coach bags for sweeping and take down techniques, Not everything is pictured

The testing moves to self defense techniques. Everything is not pictured.

Self defense against sticks, knives, and guns. Not everything is pictured

Then the ground techniques are demonstrated such as falling, rolling out, slap outs and then the ground self defense. Not everything is pictured

With the equipment work with hands and kicks, the empty hand self defense techniques, defense against sticks ,knives, and guns, the ground techniques and the matt work are all explained on how to execute as if they are explaining to someone who does not understand anything.

Luke performs fourteen kata. These are listed on our .Karate/Kobudo Syllabus

The Shinai, a Kendo training tool, tests the student’s mental strength. They learn not to fear pain.

Luke then spars all the students on the floor, beginning with the lowest rank and working up to the highest rank. The goal is to see the spirit of “Never give up” demonstrated..

These are just a few of the pictures.

Welcoming Luke to the Black Belts

Luke with Dad (John) and Mom, Sensei (2nd Degree Black Belt) Antoinette

Luke Austin started training as a six year old boy who wanted to be a ninja. Ten plus years later he is the newest certified Black Belt in Goju Ryu Karate. Luke says, “The most important thing I’ve learned is to never give up and life lessons that can be used always, not just kicking and punching.” Luke is a Senior at Canon Christian Academy and lives with his parents, John and Antoinette (Sensei Antoinette is a 2nd Degree Black Belt) in Los Chavez. Sensei Richard and Cindy are extremely proud of all that Luke has accomplished in Karate and the fine young man he has grown up to be.

Luke Austin is Belen Goju Ryu Karate’s 79th Black Belt since 1988
